THE STUTTERER: New Horror from Executive Producer Lien Mya Nguyen Oost

By Chris Rennirt

Great news at Space Jockey Reviews! The Stuttererthe latest short film directed by Rocky Ciarrocchi, Joe Lucas, and Tim Manton–has our very own Lien Mya Nguyen Oost (co-host of The Contagious Podcast) onboard as an executive producer! And many congratulations to her for that! As usual, anything with Mya involved is always on the radar at SJR!

What’s The Stutterer all about? According to IMDb, a masked killer stalks his/her [or it’s] victims, leaving a trail of brutal murders, all while hiding in plain sight. As the motive unfolds, the “bloody killing spree reveals a history of bullying, rejection, and lost love.” It is said to blend “classic horror intensity with emotional depth.” What’s more, the killer wears a pink pig mask! Even with little information at this point, it all sounds like a lot of fun (bloody-good fun, that is), despite the cartoonish pig on the poster. And with an upside-down crucifix painted on his forehead, this pig means business!

The cast alone, listed on IMDb, is enough to get rockets on the launchpad at SJR! It stars the Oscar-nominated Eric Roberts (Runaway Train, 1985, and brother of Julia Roberts), Lloyd Kaufman (co-founder of Troma Entertainment and co-director of Toxic Avenger, 1984), Rhonda Shear (Up All Night, from the1990s), and not one, not two, but three scream queens/horror legends–Brinke Stevens (The Slumber Party Massacre, 1982), Genoveva Rossi (The Walking Dead: Dead City, 2023), and Mel Heflin (The Figure and Natasha Nighty’s Budoir of Blood)! Also part of the stellar lineup is Anders Hove–Radu Vladislas from all five Subspecies films! (Yes, I still have my Radu action figure from years ago!) And those are just a few names from The Stutterer‘s extensive cast. For a complete list, check the movie’s IMDd page.

Currently, the movie is still in pre-production. In the meantime, check out the teaser trailer below! Oink, oink!
