Lien Mya

Lien Mya Nguyen Oost has a story as amazing and inspirational as she is beautiful and talented! Born in Houston, Texas, Mya was the third of four siblings–two older sisters (one who passed away in 1995), and a younger brother. Her father was Vietnamese/French (originally from Long An Bình Chánh, Vietnam), and her mother is Vietnamese/Chinese (originally from Sóc Trăng, Vietnam). Mya moved, with her family, back to Vietnam in 1992, and later, in 2000, moved back to the United States herself. She moved around a lot afterwards–from Texas to Florida, to California, to Kentucky, to Oregon, ending up in Texas, where she lives currently.

The beginning of Mya’s many achievements began with her modeling career at age 15, landing a spokesmodel contract for the Japanese company Kao, for Sifone. Later, she became second Miss Vietnam Han Noi Enchantuer 2000, Miss Congeniality and Miss Vietnam Ha Noi 2000, Miss Perfect Fit in 2000, and won a silver medal in the Taekwondo Tournament in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Mya also won Miss Beaumont Texas International in 2005, and second runner-up for Miss Texas International in 2005.

Looking back, while Mya was only five, in 1st grade, when asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she had a different answer than most kids her age. While other kids would say “a nurse, a police officer,” etc., Mya said, “an actress.” While other kids asked, “What is an actress?” and the teachers were shocked, Mya never gave up on believing in herself and what she could accomplish.

Today, Mya is a self-described “average little zombie-hunting, kick-ass Asian girl.” While she’s definitely “kick-ass” and Asian (also hunting zombies we’re told), as you can tell by now, she’s anything but average! Today, with her determination and “out-of-this-world” talent, she’s not only an actress, but also a model, a director, a producer, and a writer. More recently, she’s also the co-host of The Contagious Podcast with Space Jockey Reviews Editor in Chief Chris Rennirt! And, with so much imagination, creativity, confidene, and talent, there’s surely more to come!
