Rabid (2019): The Soska Twins’ Remake Is on the Way

Space Jockey Reviews’ rockets are ready to launch for Rabid (2019) – the  latest bloody feature directed and cowritten by the horror-production duo Jen & Sylvia Soska of tWIStED tWIN,S PRODUCtIONS.  Yes!  The trailer for their much-anticipted remake of David Cronenberg’s Rabid (1977) is here!  Staring Laura Vandervoort and Benjamin Hollingsworth, with C.M. Punk, AJ Mendez (AJ Lee from WWE Smackdown Live) and Tristan Risk in supporting roles, the movie is set to premiere at the FrightFest film festival in the UK on Monday, August 26th.  There is currently no release date for the film, but SJR will certainly keep you posted!

What’s all the bloodletting about?  Rose (Laura Vandervoort) is a quiet, demure, unassuming woman in her looks and actions. Her dream is to become a famous designer in the fashion world, but a terrible accident leaves Rose scarred beyond recognition. She seeks out a radical, untested stem-cell treatment, and the results are nothing short of a miracle.  Now, wallflower Rose is the belle of the ball (or a superstellar siren, as we say at Space Jockey Reviews).  But everything in life comes at a price, and her newfound perfect life is no exception.  What happens when Rose realizes that achieving her dreams requires living a nightmare?  What happens when desire becomes hunger?  What choice does Rose make, even if it means, perhaps, taking the life of others?  (No, that’s not a spoiler, because we don’t know it yet…but, we certainly expect it in horror films, don’t we?)

Sanguine suppositions be damned!  There’s a trailer on the loose, with bloody-good photos too!  At SJR, we’re licking our lips already.  Rabid 2019 looks to be a gorehound’s feast of a film!  Bon appetit!
