Space Jockey Reviews Star Showcase: AUGIE DUKE

I was planning to wait and do a feature about Augie Duke, after I saw Bad Kids Go to Hell. However, after seeing a recent interview and a demo reel of her acting, I had to skip right to the goods.  For me, the virtual, ultra-impressive encounter with Augie was in the form of an awesome interview I happened to find on Youtube.  In it, Augie is being interviewed by fantasticforumlive.com at Comic-Con 2012 (or, as Augie describes it, a “hectic hecticon”).  And does she have big fun with this interview? Oh yeah!  🙂

All I’ve got to say is “WOW” about a dozen times, at least.  In the Comic-Con interview, Augie shines like the brightest of stars this Space Jockey has yet seen.  She’s spunky, lively, energetic, playful, a laugh a minute, with a personality as big as a galaxy at least. (No, I’m not kidding!)  The only thing I am kidding about is the “laugh a minute.”  It’s really more like a laugh a second.  Seriously!  Comedian should also be on Augie’s resumé!  Oh, and by the time you finish watching the interview, you’ll feel like you’ve met her a few times before.  (I know I sure did.)

In the interview Augie talks about many things, including her character in Bad Kids Go to Hell—Veronica Harmon.  “I feel like she’s kind of like a disturbed outcast that plays…a rebellious goth girl.”  “But, I think she’s misread, misled, kind of confused, dark, saddened by the fact that she wants to be wanted and liked, so she becomes this…angry kid.”  There’s plenty more about Veronica, but Augie does a better job saying it than I do typing it; so, I’ll let you hear it straight from her below.  Don’t miss it!

In talking about the work she’s done in the past, Augie says she’s played lots of “disturbed, angry girls.”  “But hopefully, one day,” Augie says, “I’ll be playing a really nice girl.”  She says she’d like to play the girl who “lives” in a movie.  As Augie says, “I want to live!”  Yes, Augie even makes this, like everything else, funny.  From the looks of this interview, I’m thinking that a comedy would also suit her really well–as long as she can “Live!”  After all, in comedy the odds of living are pretty darned good! 🙂

When asked to tell the one thing she wants people to know about Bad Kids Go to Hell, Augie says “Just watch it, and laugh, and have fun.”  With Augie starring in the movie, that should be the easiest thing you’ll ever do in a theater.  (Well, maybe eating popcorn could be easier…but I doubt that too.)  Augie, as Veronica, goes from beautiful to badass to beautiful and badass, all before the movie’s even close to ending.  Spoiler…no, fact…yes, obviously.  The trailer alone tells us that in minutes!  Yes, Augie even looks superstellar as one of those disturbed angry girls she’s hoping not to play someday.  Augie, with your talent, I think you’ll be choosing about any role you want soon enough. 🙂

If the Comic-Con interview isn’t enough, Augie’s demo reel added on is enough to seal the deal, for sure!  In it, she shows her true range as an actress of the highest caliber.  In the first segment, Augie plays what looks like, yes, “a disturbed, angry girl”.  Next she’s a girl who wakes up to an unpleasant surprise.  (I’ll let the video reveal that.)   Then, she’s a girl who’s happy one minute and suicidal the next; while finally, she has “a little color added” to her face, literally!  Whatever the case, whatever the character, Augie’s there and into it all the way, every time.  Kudos to Augie Duke for always being the best looking, best acting bad girl ever seen, this side of the universe…and beyond!

Once again, I just can’t resist throwing in that extra photo of Augie! So, here it goes again!

The bad girl Augie Duke looking as good as ever–again!

I’m hoping that Augie gets a role as a superhero girl, in some upcoming superhero movie!  I can just imagine so many that she’d be just perfect to play.  Yes, I’m hoping she gets a part, not just as a good girl, but as a superhero girl–the ultimate compensation for too many times bad already.  Oh, I’m sure she’d look and act the part just fine, fighting superhero butt, as the villain, till the plot takes her down.  But, I’ve got my fingers crossed, hoping Augie gets her wish playing the good girl for a change–the one who also “lives!”  Yes, I know that’s what she really wants!  So, bring on that good, crime fighting, ever-mild mannered butt kicking heroine, who lives beyond the end to fight another day, and give that role to Augie Duke! The petition starts right here on Space Jockey Reviews! 🙂

Below is the interview and the demo reel.  For good measure (or should I say BAD measure), I’ve also thrown in the an official Bad Kids Go to Hell trailer.  ”While pondering your erroneous ways”, you now have even more videos to watch.  Enjoy!
