Claire Foy is an actress as talented as she is beautiful, as charming on screen as she is off, with an English accent magnifying the allure. A self-propelled personality, fueled to infinity, is a bonus, like a supernova sunrise, outshining all else. With the photo above, Foy’s beauty is legendary at Space Jockey Reviews already, as a performance of pulchritude unto itself. How about her talent as an actress? Seeing Foy as Anna in Season of the Witch alone speaks volumes for her skills in acting (see the full review of Season of the Witch on Space Jockey Reviews); in the interview below she talks about British film and more, and, in the process, shows more of the infinite charm she possesses as simply herself.
In Season of the Witch, Foy plays the part of a young woman innocent in her appearance, who may or may not be a witch. She is considered responsible for the Black Death of the time, and her confession is necessary to end the scourge–or so they think. A court date is set in the worst of places, as we know, for people of the time to be judged–a monastery, with monks to make the decision. But, judged as a great actress, Foy would be found guilty in any court, Medieval or modern.
Foy‘s performance as the accused in Season of the Witch is, indeed, something to be talked about! With every prophetic word she speaks, cryptic and foreboding in tone and delivery, along with a look that captivates, even from afar, Foy steals the show from her veteran costars like a premature pro herself. Foy is the essence of Anna, as needed, as a woman of mystery (or a witch) we can’t identify. Should we fear her, or should we pity her, hoping she escapes her journey to judgement, damned by dogma already. Foy, with her myriad looks, is convincingly evil when necessary, while equally innocent elsewhere–demure or deadly….or both is skill, not work for Foy. In Season of the Witch, her character is crucial in creating suspense and uncertainty needed to hook us to the story, ready to be reeled in; with Foy at the helm, we find exactly that character, masterfully played with humanness that is good, and evil that is otherworldly, dangerous, and undefinable. As an actor competing with the likes of Nicolas Cage, Ron Perlman, and more, Foy stands out as a force not forgotten, making Anna one to be remembered.
Foy has starred in numerous other movies and series such as Little Dorrit (the British TV mini-series, where she played the title character Amy Dorrit)
Back to Foy’s charm as the person she is in life–Claire–we see it easily; she is as natural in portraying others as she is being herself. Her talent is effortless; it shows always, in every performance she gives. Space Jockey Reviews hereby salutes Claire Foy in her very own Star Showcase, with a bonus ten-rocket salute. Our radar is set to the stars, looking forward to all else she does in the future.
“I think people just love it. [Vampires] tend to be bad asses. They tend to be able to beat people up and have incredible strength…look great and amazing, but also drink blood.” ~ Claire Foy, RedCarpetNewsTV Interview (October 8, 2013)
SJR loves Claire’s quote above (for obvious reasons), and the interview below shows reasons for glowing reviews again.
